No face-hugging until 2013 for Aliens: Colonial Marines

Gearbox software CEO Randy Pitchford announced on the company’s website today that Aliens: Colonial Marines, which had been slated for a Autumn 2012 release, will now be expected in the first quarter of 2013. Private Hudsons of the world, commence whining.

We’ve always prioritized the goals we had for the game over any particular launch window. The game’s development has been invigorating and natural relative to our experience making games and the objectives for it. Because the game was “announced” with that original press release, it might feel, to those of you who have been waiting for the game since then, that it has been in development a long time. In fact, with the release date now set, it turns out that the total development time we have spent creating Aliens: Colonial Marines is about the same length of time as we had spent creating the original Borderlands or the original Brothers in Arms – both games that we had waited to announce until we were much farther along in the development process.

If you have had that feeling that you’ve been waiting a long time, then today should be a good day for you! We have an official, solid launch date for the game! We’re now at a point in development when we can see the end – we know what’s left to do and can sufficiently quantify it to be very confident in the schedule for the game’s completion and commercial release!

Along with that pep talk, we also got a treat in the form of more gameplay video!

The entire Ghost Recon Alpha short film

To help promote the game, Ubisoft has put out this 24 minute prequel film for the upcoming Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. The short follows a group of spec ops soldiers as they attempt to take out ”one of the world’s most feared war criminals.”

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is set to deploy on May 22 for Xbox 360, PC, and PS3.

Max Payne 3 Launch Trailer

Fable Heroes: Ready to tell a new Fable?

Fable Heroes, a new mini-adventure located in the Xbox Live Arcade, arrived today and is ready for new adventurers! This four player hack’n'slash gives you the ability to take out enemies from previous Fable games as well as helping you to earn unlocks for the new “Fable: The Journey” game coming to Xbox.
The game does cost 800 MS points and is available in the Xbox Live Arcade. A full teaser video has been released as well:

Black Ops 2 Debut Trailer

After a few leaks, Activision has finally released the official announcement trailer for Black Ops 2.

Black Ops 2 appears to bring back Sgt, Frank Woods, the protagonist from the original Black Ops game, to tell the tale of “the enemy” using our own weapons against us during an attack on L.A.

I’ve regretted the purchase of the last two COD games; however, with this, it looks like Treyarch is going to get me to part ways with another $60 bucks.

Activision’s next cash-cow is set for a November 13 release.
