Wii U Moves 400,000 Units In First Week

The Wii U has racked up sales of 400,000 units in its first week of availability in North America. To put that into context, the original Wii sold over 600,000 units in eight days.

“Wii U is essentially sold out of retail and we are doing our best to continually replenish stock,” Fils-Aime told CNET. “Retailers are also doing their best to get the product to store shelves. But as soon as product hits retail, they’re selling out immediately.”

The Wii U launch helped Nintendo sell over 1.2 million console and handhelds over the Thanksgiving week, including 300,000 original Wii systems, 275,000 units of the DS, and 250,000 3DS systems.
