A Treyarch Developer by the forum name VAHN has announced that the PS3 will see an “Install Textures to HDD” option when Black Ops 2 releases this fall. Effectively this will install/cache a large amount of frequently accessed data to the hard drive. This prevents the Blu-Ray drive from wearing itself out accessing the data so frequently. This will be an OPTION and NOT REQUIRED in order to play the game as they are not sure exactly how much Hard Drive space the textures are going to take up as of yet. If you decide against installing the textures, the game will still pre-cache some textures like it always has when you play.
