Today, Rockstar Games announced that Max Payne 3 would be receiving a March 2012 launch. The sequel to 2003’s Max Payne 2 was originally slated for a winter 2009 release, but underwent a series of delays.
Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games, stated:
“Max Payne 3 gave us an amazing creative opportunity to
evolve one of our most iconic characters. We’re excited to show fans a modern version of Max that pulls them back into his dark and twisted story.”
MP3 follows Max as he leaves New York City to work private security in Sao Paolo, Brazil. Once in Sao Palo, Max must defend his client from violent gangs, clear his name, and “rid himself of the demons that have tortured him for far too long.”
Max Payne 3 will also be the first game in the series to feature multiplayer. According to Rockstar, the multiplayer will contain traditional multiplayer modes, a character progression system, and persistent clan support.
