These are the major announcements from Sony’s Gamescom 2011 Press conference.
Undoubtedly the biggest announcement to come out of the press conference was that the Playstation 3 will see a price drop to $249, that’s £199! The community has been crying out for Sony to drop the price of the console, and here it is, finally!
There was a great game turn out at Gamescom. Gameplay from games like Uncharted 3, Resistance 3 and Starhawk was shown.
A host of Vita games were also shown. These include; Little Big Planet Vita, Resistance: Burning Skies (a spin-off of the Resistance series), Assassin’s Creed Vita and Rayman Origins.
Sony also announced the arrival of Infamous 2: Festival of Blood, a downloadable game on the PSN available in October.
And then Sony hit us with the rebirth of the PSP! – The Vita, surely?! You say, but no starting at 99 Euros Sony is bringing a new PSP to the market. We were left with the vague release window of ‘this Autumn’. Oh, and it doesn’t have Wi-fi.
And that’s about that. Sony gave a pretty firm conference with some great new games and hardware to show off.
In-case you’re wondering, Microsoft didn’t have a conference rather a more in-formal day where they showed off their games to the press and selective public.
