Australia Bans Mortal Kombat

The Mortal Kombat series is no stranger to controversy and the latest game is looking to be no different as it has already been banned in Australia.

The games wide range of overly violent fatalities and high level of graphical detail appear too much for the Australian ratings board and they have refused to give the game a MA15+ classification. As there is still no 18+ classification this effectively means that the game has been banned from sale and distribution in Australia.

The publisher Warner Bros are understandably disappointed by this decision and have launched an appeal but it doesn’t look like it will be much success.

This kind of makes me feel a little better about not living in Australia, they may have some awesome beaches and a lackadaisical approach to life but we get Mortal Kombat so I guess it works out even.
