Demos for WiiWare titles are set to return in Europe, following last year where certain titles were made available as trial versions.
Nintendo has pledged that this time the service will be “ongoing”, implying that the availability of Demos will go beyond the previous demo service’s availability of three months.
This is certainly great news for Wii owners, who will now get a chance to ‘try before you buy’, and experience a similar level of service available on Sony’s Playstation Network and Microsoft’s Xbox Live Marketplace.
This will come into effect on this friday’s European store update, where demos of Jett Rocket (Shin’en Multimedia), Furry Legends (Gamelion), Zombie Panic in Wonderland (Akaoni Studio) and ThruSpace (Nintendo) will be made available.
However, in a press release, Nintendo states that Demos for these particular titles “will only be available for a limited time”, and that new demos will constantly replace old ones so that the demo line up is “kept refreshed to provide players with a varied and entertaining experience.”
Although, if players download a demo to an SD card and the demos are no longer available on the shop, they will still be able to boot them up and play them.
A list of downloadable demos available can be viewed on a dedicated list on wiiware.nintendo.co.uk as well as on the Shop Channel service.
Hopefully this service will be made available outside of Europe, giving all Wii owners this opportunity to help them decide whether to part with their valuable Wii Points or not.
