Gears of War 3 “Fate of Carmine” raises $150K for Child’s Play

The fate of Clayton Carmine is now decided. The campaign to raise money for the Child’s Play Charity organization has now come to a close as of September 2nd with $150,000 raised. The promotion started on July 29th when Epic Games announced that the Gears of War community can decide the fate of the eldest Carmine brother.

For gamers to put in their vote of Carmine’s fate, players had to buy the “Carmine Must Die” or the “Save Carmine” tees on the Xbox Live Avatar Marketplace. Epic Games also stated that all proceeds that were made with this decision would go the Child’s Play charity. Epic Games is proud of being able to raise over $150,000 to a cause that has brought gamers together for years to allow kids in hospitals to still be kids by bringing them toys and games.

Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski and executive producer Rod Fergusson issued a special message on the Gears of War website to everyone that contributed. Although the campaign to raise money is over you can still buy the tees on the Xbox Live Avatar Marketplace for only 80 Microsoft Points. Now the question is what is Carmine’s fate? Well Epic Games is going to keep that a secret until April 5th, 2011.
